Lessons Tailor-Made For You

Whether you are a beginner or experienced our Chief Pilot, Mike Horrell, will be your first point of contact. Mike has over 17,000 hours flying experience and has taught hundreds of students, many of whom have gone on to become successful commercial pilots or to fly their own private helicopter for pleasure. 

Our courses are designed to suit your needs. If you have never flown before you can begin with an introductory 30-minute, hour or full day lesson although, be warned, helicopter flying is highly addictive! (All the time spent flying counts towards the full licence when do the further training.)

Either on the phone or in person at our MFH Flying School office – whatever suits you ­ – Mike will talk through your requirements and then fully explain what your level of helicopter training entails.  We know our students lead busy lives, so lessons are arranged to suite their diary.

You will then be given a tour of the airfield and helicopters before setting off for your first flight over the stunning Cambridgeshire countryside. With Mike at the controls you will see what thrilling or subtle manoeuvres the helicopter is capable of, and when he hands you the controls, you will see what you are capable of too…

Before each helicopter lesson you will receive a pre-flight brief during which the objectives of the lesson will be explained and discussed with you. After the lesson a post-flight brief will address any problems or issues that arose in order in order to better equip both you and the instructor for your next flight. Naturally the briefs are included within the price of the lesson. 

Before your first solo flight an Approved Aviation Medical Examiner must have given you a full medical. We can either provide you with the details of the Medical Examiner we normally use, or you must provide us with a certificate from the one that you choose.

We believe that MFH Helicopters offers first-class helicopter training. Many of our students have switched from other airfields and instructors to come to us, and for good reasons. We are committed to getting them the results they want, safely, happily and efficiently.
